Why learn about emotions ?

I have fewer meltdowns

Autistic meltdowns are often linked to difficulties in managing emotions, particularly due to increased sensory sensitivity or communication difficulties. Emotional learning can play a crucial role in enabling children to better understand and express their feelings, thereby strengthening their ability to cope with stressful situations and contributing to a reduction in meltdowns.

I feel good

Learning about emotions is essential for the well-being of autistic people. By better understanding and managing their emotions, they develop a better understanding of themselves and improve their social relationships. In addition, they acquire strategies to regulate their emotions, strengthening their self-esteem. These emotional skills provide autistic people with the tools to navigate the social world more confidently and successfully.

Harmony is present in my family

When an autistic child manages his or her emotions, this promotes better family harmony by facilitating communication, reducing tension and strengthening mutual support within the family. Interactions become more positive, conflicts are less frequent and everyone feels better understood and supported. As a result, the family environment becomes more calm and relaxed, thus improving the quality of life of all family members.

Scientific research

The Living & Learning Lab Neurodevelopment (LiLLab) is a collaborative initiative focused on neurodevelopment. Its objective is to evaluate innovative services with a participatory approach. The LiLLab supports the development of solutions for people with neurodevelopmental disorders, by evaluating projects using new technologies.

LiLLab presented the preliminary results of its study on the Emoface Play & Learn Emotions application, intended for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study showed significant progress in emotion recognition in thirty-seven patients aged 5 to 35, highlighting the playful aspect of the application. Therapists participating in the study recommend its use in therapy.
