Emoface Play & Learn Emotions is an app designed to help children and young adults understand and learn emotions. Originally developed for people with autism spectrum disorders, the app can be useful for anyone who wants to improve their skills and emotional intelligence.
By working with the 6 basic emotions ( joy, fear, anger, sadness, surprise, disgust ), Emoface Play & Learn Emotions helps in recognizing and understanding emotions, in particular by detailing facial features and by putting emotions in context.
The use of the app is perfectly suited to sessions with healthcare professionals, due to the difficulties that users face in recognizing emotions, as well as in understanding them, contextual or not. But the app can also be used with the family or independently.
With the help of realistic and expressive 3D avatar generation technology with which the child can interact and which can be found in all games, Emoface is a fun and educational app.
The Emoface Play & Learn Emotions app helps recognize and understand emotions, including detailing facial features and emotions placed in context. It is an ideal work tool for children aged 5 to 14 with autism spectrum disorders, but its fun and reassuring interface is suitable for all children. Anyone who wants to improve their skills and emotional intelligence can benefit from it.
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) include a complex set of changes in children’s cognitive and emotional development. These can be represented, in particular, by difficulties in learning, communication and social interaction.
ASD is a generic term to specifically characterize autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
About 700,000 people in France are affected by ASD, including 100,000 children and young adults under the age of 20
Signs can appear from childhood (starting at about 18 months).
There are often learning and communication problems (verbal and non-verbal):
In young children
The child does not respond to their first name, does not point the finger, does not imitate people, avoids looking into the eyes of others, makes few social gestures (such as “hello”, does not say his age and “goodbye”).
Children and adults
Difficulties in establishing a dialogue, engaging in conversation, creating friendships, decoding emotions and language subtleties such as irony, sarcasm, ambiguities.
Other behaviors are also observed from childhood to adulthood:
Contrary to popular beliefs, the presence of ASD does not necessarily imply intellectual disabilities. According to INSERM, this affects about one in three people.
You can use the app anywhere in the world, as long as the child can understand the instructions and the play environment. The app and its audio instructions are available in English, Romanian and French.
